What's happening with NEPAccess?

We took the NEPAccess search page offline in May 2024 due to a lack of federal funding and the loss of our technical staff, which prevents us from maintaining the site. We are actively seeking funding to refresh and rebuild the site for phase 2.0 of the project. For more information on our plans for version 2.0, please visit our NEPAccess Future page.

Where is the old search page?

The Beta search platform, version 1.0, is still functioning internally at the University of Arizona, but we have paused further development. We will continue to use this site to define our future vision and publish articles and research papers on NEPA. We will post these articles to this site as they are published.

About the project

NEPAccess uses the tools of data science and AI to improve the efficiency, transparency, and accountability of environmental decision-making.

At NEPAccess.org, we created a knowledge, discovery and engagement platform for finding and analyzing decades of applied science and public participation in the NEPA process with seed funding from the NSF RIDIR program (1831551). The beta platform (2021-2024) enabled search, download, and analysis of environmental impact statements (EISs) and other documents created under the US National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA), all in one place.

The project is led by a transdisciplinary team of University of Arizona researchers.
